Networking, albeit a very daunting task for a first timer, is one of the best ways to get your business known within the local community and make a name for yourself.
It can be very intimidating, being in a room full of people who all seem to have mastered the art. However, once you take a step back and realise that in reality, networking is just being a room full of normal human beings who are passionate about a particular product or service, just like yourself, and all you need to do is listen to what others do and what their business entails and tell people about yourself and your business, it doesn’t seem so bad after all.
Here are just a few things we recommend to ensure you get the most out of your networking experience:
Smile – people are more likely to approach a friendly face, even if that individual doesn’t require your services it is always nice to converse with like-minded people and build relationships.
Give out your business cards – even if someone doesn’t need your services at present, they may do in the future or one of their clients or friends might. It never hurts to put your business out there.
Don’t forget to listen – people love to talk about themselves, so asking people about their business is just as vital as telling people about your own. Knowing about other businesses around the area enables you to make recommendations to your own clients.
Follow up – make sure you follow up with any of the business cards you collected. This is great to build relationships with others and connect with any potential leads.
So next time you see us at a networking event, pop over and introduce yourself. We’d love to connect!
